What are we actually trying to accomplish?

Before anything is specified, we work out what you are really trying to accomplish and why it matters now. We map the people involved, the constraints that are real, and the criteria you would judge the result by. The AI question at this stage is the blunt one: should AI be involved at all?

What this covers

Intent

  • Problem framing
  • Intent modelling
  • Stakeholder and constraint mapping
  • Success criteria
  • Why this, why now
  • What would make this worth doing
  • What must remain true
  • What we would accept as evidence it worked

Intent is the thing most often lost between the first conversation and the finished system. Write it down early, keep returning to it, and the later decisions get easier.

How we examine it

A proportionate method

  1. 01Problem framing
  2. 02Intent modelling
  3. 03Stakeholder and constraint mapping
  4. 04Success criteria

Typical deliverable

A stated intent, the constraints around it, and the criteria you would use to judge whether it worked.

Limitations

Framing reduces the chance of building the wrong thing; it does not remove the uncertainty in the problem itself.
